Workshop CH-ewellery, the Chinese archetypes (23 & 24 May 2015)

During the international jewellery festival Triple Parade, I've given a two-day workshop for students of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. During the workshop, entitled 'CH-ewellery', we have worked around Chinese and global archetypes. A quick drawing session in which the students had to draw more than 40 terms gave more insight in the concept of archetype. As the possibilities of materials and tools were limited, we've started working with paper. Remaking four times a chosen archetype - with paper / with paper and scissors / with paper, scissors and tape / with paper, scissors, tape and pencil - has led to tactile objects. To conclude the workshop, students have made an as Chinese as possible archetype, almost unreadable to outsiders.
